In a June 12, 2024 editorial, it was highlighted that the Legislative Yuan passed the 'Regenerative Medicine Act' and the 'Regenerative Medicine Product Act' (referred to as the Dual Regenerative Medicine Acts) on June 4. President Lai Ching-te immediately expressed hope for the development of regenerative medicine to achieve the goal of a healthy Taiwan and to make the 'biomedical industry' the next trillion-dollar industry to promote Taiwan's prosperity. The industry's scope includes medical equipment, pharmaceuticals, applied technology, and health & welfare services, showing significant growth potential with a total production value expanding to around 7 trillion NT dollars by 2021-2022, indicating the imminent rise of a trillion-dollar industry. Despite the positive outlook, further strategies and industry classifications are needed to promote the sector more effectively.
