Hsiao Hsun-chen, the executive director of the Ma Ying-jeou Foundation, proposed the resignation of deputy minister Liang Wen-chieh from the Mainland Affairs Council due to publicly referring to mainland China as a separate country, suggesting that President Lai should disband the council to stop wasting taxpayers' money. He emphasized the One China Principle in the ROC Constitution, slammed the concept of Taiwanese independence, and criticized President Lai for deviating from the constitutional principles by promoting a 'New Two-State Theory'. Hsiao also questioned the government's avoidance of the One China Principle and the 1992 Consensus while advocating for Taiwanese independence, urging adherence to the principles of his predecessor, Ma Ying-jeou.
