During the Strait Forum, Zhang Kaijun, a central committee member of the People's Party and the head of the Taiwan Business Affairs Committee, attended and expressed the party's stance of 'both sides are of one family,' which led to a conflict with Huang Kuo-chang and Wang Wan-yu. Huang criticized 'that party chairman' for having illogical reasoning and not knowing how to respond, while Wang retorted that Huang, who had never accepted the 'both sides are of one family' notion, was now avoiding the issue, making it even more absurd than not responding to messages. Huang emphasized the People's Party's stance of maintaining Taiwan's sovereignty and dignity, promoting peaceful dialogue between both sides, and stressed that they are positive towards exchanges that serve these purposes.
