On June 16, 2024, Taiwan People's Party legislator Huang Kuo-chang responded to former legislator Cheng Hsiu-ling's critique of him and other legislators as becoming arrogant emperors, obstructing the new government intentionally. Cheng also accused Huang of collaborating with the Kuomintang to push through legislative amendments quickly, hindering the government's progress. Huang, known for his activism, stated that he respects Cheng and is open to her opinions while emphasizing the importance of parliamentary oversight to prevent monopoly of power. Cheng left her political party and endorsed civic activist Lai Chung-chiang's calls for reform, urging Huang to support reforms he previously opposed in exchange for political favors.
