Bloomberg reported on June 20, 2024, that Huawei plans to charge a 20% profit-sharing fee on gaming content in its HarmonyOS app store to attract more developers to bring games to the Harmony operating system ecosystem. This adjustment in profit-sharing is aimed at attracting more games. Compared to the average 30% profit-sharing rate by companies like Apple and Google, Huawei's policy is more appealing, even surpassing the 50% profit-sharing in most Chinese software markets for gaming content. With recent launches in the Chinese market and a growing market share, Huawei seems focused on convincing more game developers to join HarmonyOS to attract more gamers to Huawei phones running the operating system.
