As Huawei launched 5G smartphones directly competing with Apple, its self-developed operating system HarmonyOS has gradually increased its market share in mainland China. According to Counterpoint Research, in the first quarter of 2024, HarmonyOS surpassed Apple's iOS with a market share of 17%, becoming the second-largest smartphone operating system in the Chinese market. This shift is attributed to consumer support for local products amidst the US-China tech war, as well as the strong adoption of 5G technology. Huawei aims to have 5,000 native HarmonyOS apps by the end of 2024 and ultimately become the world's third-largest mobile operating system.
