Hurricane Beryl has downgraded to a Category 2 storm and is moving over the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico with strong winds, storm surges, and damaging waves. The National Hurricane Center forecasts the hurricane to move northwestward toward northeastern Mexico and southern Texas, with maximum winds reaching about 100 miles per hour. Residents in the hurricane warning area are advised to take precautions against possible life-threatening conditions, including heavy rainfall and storm surges.
