Hurricane Beryl Strengthens into Category 5 as it Heads toward Jamaica

Reported 12 months ago

Hurricane Beryl has rapidly intensified into a Category 5 storm with 165-mph winds, making it the earliest Category 5 storm on record. The storm is forecasted to bring life-threatening winds, storm surge, and heavy rain to Jamaica on Wednesday. While Florida is expected to be spared from direct impacts, residents along the west coast of the Gulf of Mexico and southern Texas are advised to closely monitor the storm's progression. Beryl is projected to maintain its strength as it moves across the Caribbean Sea before weakening slightly but remaining a dangerous hurricane.
