A wife in Pingtung, Taiwan, discovered her husband's affair with a female coworker and sued the woman for emotional distress after finding out that her husband had been concealing their interactions by referring to her using their daughter's nickname on LINE. Despite the mistress not showing up in court, the judge ruled in favor of the wife, ordering the mistress to pay 30,000 NTD in compensation. The court deemed the affair as an inappropriate relationship extending beyond friendship, based on intimate conversations including terms like 'dear', 'wife', and 'I miss you' exchanged between the husband and the mistress.
