Reported 12 months ago

Exclusive report on July 1, 2024, at 11:44 PM. The Criminal Investigation Bureau's Northern Fraud Investigation Center (Seventh Brigade) received a report on June 5, 2024, alleging that an individual on social media claimed to be the Chief Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior, Mr. Lee, posting business cards and personnel appointment certificates, suspected of forging official documents and seals. The suspect, surnamed Li, unemployed for a long time, impersonated various high-status roles to elevate social status, presenting himself as a human resources director of a U.S. company, an emergency room physician, a deputy director of the Parliament President's Office, and the Chief Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior to cozy up to the elite, even displaying expensive flower baskets at home pretending they were gifts from politicians, flaunting on social media. Following a joint operation, officials seized a batch of forged business cards, Chief Secretary seals, appointment certificates, physician seals, mobile phones, laptops, and other evidence, leading to Li's detention and referral to the Taipei District Prosecutors Office for investigation on forgery offenses involving official documents and seals. The Bureau advises the public engaging in social activities to be cautious in making friends, verify claims carefully, investigate individuals boasting obviously inappropriate professional identities thoroughly, to avoid falling victim to deception, resulting in financial and reputational losses.
