On June 29, 2024, Executive Yuan Premier Su Tseng-chang and New Taipei City Mayor Hou Yi-ying inspected the progress of the Tamsui River Bridge project with concerns over traffic congestion in the Tamsui area. Mayor Hou urged for swift approval of the Bali Light Rail project to alleviate congestion. The Tamsui River Bridge, designed by renowned architect Zaha Hadid, is expected to ease traffic on the Taipei Second Expressway and shorten travel time between Bali and Tamsui. The total budget for the project is 23 billion NTD, also allowing space for the Bali Light Rail system. Premier Su stressed the importance of central-local cooperation for public confidence in such projects.
