Toyota Motor has decided to continue releasing combustible engines, despite the forecasted increase in electric vehicle (EV) production worldwide. The company plans to develop a compact petrol engine compatible with EV power units that can run on carbon-neutral fuels like biofuels, e-fuels, and liquid hydrogen. This initiative aims to offer customers diverse options for achieving carbon neutrality, with Toyota's compact engine design allowing for better aerodynamics and fuel efficiency. Although EVs are predicted to represent a significant share of global light vehicle manufacturing by 2028, Toyota, along with Subaru and Mazda, will focus on enhancing engine technologies through friendly competition.
