During the inauguration ceremony of the Yulin Ship, President Lai Ching-te emphasized the government's promotion of 'national shipbuilding,' aiming to construct 141 new-generation patrol vessels from 2018 to 2027, with the Yulin Ship being one of the largest among the four active and under-construction vessels. President Lai expressed gratitude to the Coast Guard for maintaining maritime order, combating smuggling and human trafficking, and ensuring the safety of citizens at sea. He pledged to enhance ocean and border security, strengthen national defense and technological applications, and create a safer marine environment, acknowledging the Coast Guard as guardians of the blue territory and highlighting the increased protective capabilities demonstrated by the Yulin Ship.
