Ahead of the summer holiday travel peak season, the Customs Administration of the Ministry of Finance announced today that the duty-free allowance for inbound travelers bringing goods will be raised to NT$35,000 starting tomorrow (6/26). This adjustment comes after 35 years without any changes to the duty-free allowance. The current limit of NT$20,000 had long been insufficient for travelers who prefer purchasing high-priced luxury goods such as designer bags and watches abroad. The adjustment was previously announced by the Ministry of Finance on April 1, and after completing the legal procedures, the new allowance will take effect on June 26.
