On June 22, 2024, 47-year-old Indian movie star Darshan Thoogudeepa, known for his influential roles in several popular dramas, was arrested by the police for allegedly killing a 33-year-old man. The victim had reportedly sent inappropriate messages to actress Pavithra Gowda, who was rumored to be Darshan's mistress, leading to a motive for revenge. The victim's body was found in a sewer, and 17 individuals, including Darshan, have been arrested. Darshan denies the charges of murder, kidnapping, destroying evidence, and criminal conspiracy, but industry sources speculate his substantial movie investments could be affected if found guilty.
