In India, 24-year-old Kanchan Kol was sentenced to death for killing her mother-in-law by viciously hacking her nearly 100 times with a sickle out of frustration, as her mother-in-law had a habit of constantly nitpicking. The incident occurred in July 2022 in Madhya Pradesh's Rewa District, where Kanchan's husband's involvement was suspected but he was acquitted due to lack of evidence. Kanchan alleged that her father-in-law offered her money and the sickle to instigate the murder. The mother-in-law succumbed to her injuries, and Kanchan was arrested for murder.
