Indonesia Negotiates Exemptions in U.S. Tariff Deal

Indonesia is in talks with the U.S. to finalize details of a new trade agreement that has reduced tariffs on Indonesian exports, including a push for exemptions on palm oil, nickel, and other products. The agreement has lowered the proposed tariff rate to 19% from 32%, and Indonesia is also set to purchase jets from Boeing and increase energy imports from the U.S. The deal promises zero tariffs on most U.S. goods entering Indonesia, excluding specific items like alcohol and pork.
