In the Shanxi Province of mainland China, the Yungang Grottoes in Datong is a popular tourist attraction. Recently, a netizen discovered that timers were installed on the doors of the women's restrooms in the scenic area, causing stress and a lack of privacy as the duration of restroom usage was now monitored. Although the scenic area staff clarified that visitors would not be rushed out mid-use, the timers were added as a precaution to prevent accidents. With more tourists causing overcrowding in the restrooms, the management added timers to prevent restroom occupancy, sparking criticism from visitors. The timers begin counting once the door is locked, and upon hearing the backlash, the staff explained that the timers were a necessity due to the increasing number of visitors requiring restroom facilities.
