As reported by Yahoo News updated on July 9, 2024, at 9:48 AM, the Central Weather Bureau issued a heavy rain advisory for intense convective cloud development, with a likelihood of localized heavy rain or downpour in Nantou County, as well as the possibility of heavy rain in areas north of Taoyuan, Changhua to Chiayi regions, and mountainous areas of Hsinchu and Miaoli. People are advised to be cautious of thunderstorms and strong gusts, prevent flooding in low-lying areas, and watch out for landslides and falling rocks in mountainous regions. The heavy rain advisory was lifted as rain eased towards 9 PM, reducing the likelihood of heavy rain or downpour. The alert areas for heavy rain and downpour include Nantou County and the counties and cities of Keelung, Taipei, New Taipei, Taoyuan, Hsinchu, Miaoli, Changhua, Yunlin, Chiayi City, and Chiayi County.
