The U.S. Justice Department has reached a settlement with UnitedHealth Group regarding its $3.3 billion acquisition of Amedisys, mandating the divestiture of 164 home health and hospice facilities across 19 states, which generate approximately $528 million in revenue. Additionally, UnitedHealth must divest eight further locations if regulatory issues arise. A monitoring body will oversee compliance with the settlement, while Amedisys has been fined $1.1 million for non-compliance and must provide antitrust training for its leadership.
