Retired Major General Yu Beichen recently claimed in a program that the People's Liberation Army (PLA) does not have Google Maps and would 'definitely get lost' if attacking Taiwan. Following this, an internet star tested mainland China's navigation apps like Baidu and Amap, proving that adequate navigation is possible without Google. Military experts explained that regular troops use military maps based on satellites, which do not require internet access. The debate ensued after Yu's remarks were criticized for lacking common sense, with demonstrations showing that navigation, even without Google, is feasible using Baidu in different scenarios, further emphasizing the importance of military preparedness and advanced technology in modern warfare.
