Hong Kong authorities are investigating a landing gear failure on an Atlas Air freighter aircraft that resulted in an eight-hour runway closure at Hong Kong International Airport. The cargo jet, operated by Nippon Cargo Airlines but supplied to Atlas Air, experienced a hydraulic system failure while bound for Chicago. The disabled jet delayed 450 flights, and local officials are questioning the response time and calling for a review of contingency procedures.
