Investment Fraud Reports Surge Amid AI Hype

The Taiwan Financial Supervisory Commission reported that investment fraud cases related to Google and Facebook surged to 45,804 from April last year to June this year. Although reports dropped to 4,404 in June, the first half of the year totaled an alarming 26,187 cases. Scammers are exploiting the AI trend, impersonating well-known figures to lure victims into fake investment schemes. Citizens are urged to remain vigilant against various types of fraud, including fake financial institutions and misleading apps.
