In the past year, there have been multiple food safety issues, causing some people to be hesitant about dining out and wary of food coloring. The Taiwanese Food and Drug Administration advises people to prioritize purchasing foods with natural colors, avoid excessively bright or cheaply priced colored foods, eat more whole foods, and maintain a balanced diet. Artificial and natural food colorings are commonly used, with concerns raised about potential health effects of artificial colorings, such as increased risk of colon inflammation and cancer. While some studies point to risks associated with artificial colorings, the FDA stresses that as long as food coloring is within legal limits, it should not harm health.
