Japan Won't Use US Treasuries as Leverage in Tariff Negotiations

Japan has decided not to leverage its US Treasury holdings in upcoming tariff negotiations with the US, as confirmed by Liberal Democratic Party policy chief Itsunori Onodera. Japan seeks to evade reciprocal tariffs while the US demands concessions in agriculture and liquefied natural gas. Onodera also emphasized the importance of discussing the tariffs with the World Trade Organization and fostering cooperation with Southeast Asian nations.
