On June 14, 2024, the talent agency of veteran Japanese actress Kugo Miko announced her passing due to aspiration pneumonia at the age of 93. Born in 1931 in Tokyo, she began her acting career in 1947 and was known for her elegant acting and beauty. After a successful career in film, TV, and stage productions, her final work was in the 2000 movie 'Kawaki.' Her agency confirmed that the wake and funeral have already taken place. Aspiration pneumonia is a risk for the elderly due to weakened swallowing and coughing abilities, making it easy for bacteria, food particles, or gastric fluids to enter the lungs accidentally.
