On June 22, 2024, a Japan Airlines flight experienced engine trouble and had to make an emergency landing after departing from Aomori en route to Osaka. Reports suggest flames emerged from one of the engines mid-flight, prompting the return and emergency landing at Aomori Airport. Fortunately, all 47 crew members and passengers were unharmed. Japanese Airlines is investigating the incident, following previous safety-related incidents in various locations including Fukuoka, Seattle, and San Diego, as well as a recent incident involving a pilot causing a disruption while intoxicated in the US.
