The renowned Japanese animation studio GAINAX, responsible for popular anime series like 'Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water,' 'Neon Genesis Evangelion,' 'His and Her Circumstances,' and 'Gurren Lagann,' announced its bankruptcy in Tokyo, attributing it to financial troubles stemming from mismanagement and unsuccessful investments in ventures like restaurants and a CG company, along with internal conflicts and high-level executives taking unsecured loans, leading to operational difficulties and debt accumulation. Despite attempts to reorganize with the help of Khara in 2020, GAINAX faced insurmountable financial problems and chose to file for bankruptcy with the Tokyo District Court, apologizing for the situation to the public. Khara will now hold GAINAX's trademarks and remaining assets.
