Japanese H3 Rocket Successfully Launches, 'Daichi-4' Satellite Enters Orbit

Reported 12 months ago

On July 1, 2024, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) successfully launched its latest domestically produced main carrier rocket, H3, and placed the Earth observation satellite 'Daichi-4' into orbit for the first time. This mission demonstrated the commercial launch value of the H3 rocket. The rocket took off from the Tanegashima Space Center in Kagoshima Prefecture at 12:06 Japan time and delivered 'Daichi-4' to a 'sun-synchronous orbit' 17 minutes later, declaring the launch a success. The satellite, equipped with L-band phased array synthetic aperture radar and microwave radar systems, will monitor changes in the Earth's crust and terrain to assist the Japanese government in responding promptly to climate-related disasters.
