Japanese Monk Jumps Shinkansen Track to Retrieve Phone; Delays 14,000 People

In Japan, a 39-year-old monk from Yamanashi Prefecture disrupted train services on April 13 by trespassing on the Shinkansen track at Shizuoka Station to retrieve his phone, causing delays for 17 trains. Admitting his actions were for the phone, the monk is now under investigation for violating Shinkansen regulations and has been referred to prosecutors by the police. The incident led to delays of up to 37 minutes for over 14,000 passengers.
