Japanese Startup Develops 'Silkworm Food' as New Protein Source, Planning to Enter Singapore Market

Reported 12 months ago

Japanese startup company Morus has developed products using silkworms as raw materials and is set to begin selling related products in Singapore. Morus plans to market this as a new protein substitute source, aiming not only at Singapore, but also Indonesia, Thailand, and other Southeast Asian countries. The company, established in 2021, also plans to expand its business to Europe and the United States after selling 'silkworm food' in Southeast Asia. Silkworm food is reported to have more protein, lower fat, and calorie content compared to chicken, and is easier to mass produce, reducing production costs.
