One of the ponds in Oshino Hakkai, called 'Yarigaike,' is filled with many coins thrown by visitors, turning the famous World Heritage site in Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan, into a wishing pond. Despite signs prohibiting coin throwing in multiple languages, including English and Chinese, visitors continue to disregard the rules. The excessive amount of coins has raised concerns about environmental damage and water quality, prompting efforts to remove them periodically by volunteer divers. Discussions are ongoing to find a more effective solution to address this issue.
