Johnson & Johnson is facing a new proposed class action in New Jersey federal court seeking damages and medical monitoring for women who have been diagnosed with cancer allegedly due to using the company's talc products. The lawsuit is the first to seek medical monitoring for talc users and could include thousands of women. J&J maintains their talc is safe and does not cause cancer. The lawsuit comes in the midst of a proposed $6.48 billion settlement plan by J&J to resolve talc claims through bankruptcy, which is being opposed by the law firms behind the new case wanting more compensation for their clients.
