JPMorgan Chase informed British regulators that it suspected Jes Staley was involved in Jeffrey Epstein’s criminal activities shortly before a formal investigation into Staley commenced in 2019. The Financial Conduct Authority stated it had evidence suggesting Staley’s involvement in criminal conduct related to Epstein, though Staley has consistently denied wrongdoing. The FCA did not accuse Staley of any criminal activities but found he had misled the regulator about his relationship with Epstein, leading to a lifetime ban and a fine.
