During the case involving Cheng Wen-Tsan, former Chairman of the Straits Exchange Foundation and ex-Taoyuan Mayor, who was charged under corruption laws, a female judge surnamed Deng presided over and ordered a bail of 5 million NT dollars, arousing controversy due to her father's past ties with Cheng. However, Taoyuan District Court clarified that Deng had changed shifts before the case and there was no conflict of interest. Deng, a former prosecutor turned judge, had previously faced personal issues and now faces scrutiny over her connections to Cheng.
