The 2024 Kaohsiung Ai River Dragon Boat Festival Carnival kicked off grandly during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, with three professional cheerleading teams bringing a lively opening performance. Mayor Chen Chi-Mai highlighted the event's richness, traditional features of Dragon Boat Festival, and various activities including water and land dragon boat races, attracting international teams and creating a diverse market with a variety of snacks. The event featured 165 teams participating in the dragon boat races, with a unique international friendship race between the city government, council, American Institute in Taiwan, and Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association. Mayor Chen expressed determination to win the dragon boat race championship for the second consecutive year.
