KMT Plans to Increase Recall Threshold, DPP Responds

Reported 8 months ago

The Kuomintang (KMT) legislative caucus plans to process an amendment to the recall law in the next session, aiming to require the consent votes to exceed the elected votes of the recalled person for the recall to pass. This move is seen as a response to the possibility of a recall by the Green camp. However, the Taiwan People's Party legislative caucus did not echo this proposal. DPP legislative caucus chief Ker Chien-ming responded with a Taiwanese saying '想歸想別做夢' (roughly translated as 'dream on'), emphasizing that amending the law only after the vote is against the constitution.
