Kyle Larson finished 18th in his first Indianapolis 500, leading laps and briefly holding the lead in the race. Despite a pit-road speeding penalty and inclement weather, Larson's attempt at completing "The Double" by also racing in the Coca-Cola 600 was thwarted. He missed the start of the NASCAR Cup Series race, needing a waiver from NASCAR to remain eligible for the 2024 NASCAR Playoffs due to not starting all points races.
