Following the passing of founder Guo Lizhong, the famous Taipei dumpling shop 'Dongmen Xingji,' beloved by Golden Horse Award-winning actress Lin Qingxia, faced a family inheritance dispute. Guo's widow, Guo Lin Chuxu, was accused by her eldest daughter of embezzling over 40 million NTD from her father's savings. Although Guo denied embezzlement, she admitted to the charge of forging documents to prevent her daughters from becoming accomplices. Taipei District Court sentenced Guo to 10 months in prison with a 3-year probation and a 100,000 NTD fine, a verdict that can be appealed. 'Dongmen Xingji' is a well-known Cantonese dim sum shop in Taipei, with its dumplings being Lin Qingxia's favorite, as she would purchase large quantities during her visits. Guo's sudden death in 2017 due to a heart attack left behind a substantial inheritance that sparked a family dispute, with the eldest daughter accusing Guo Lin Chuxu of illicitly accessing a shared account to purchase USD checks. During the court proceedings, Guo denied the charges, claiming to have distributed part of the inheritance in NTD to her daughters and not yet handled the USD deposits. Her lawyer argued that although the prosecution accused Guo of fraud and forgery for not obtaining consent from all heirs for withdrawal documents, the daughters were aware of the transactions, thus Guo should not be convicted of fraud, and she did not want her daughters to be jointly prosecuted.
