During a press conference marking his one-month inauguration, President Lai Ching-te responded to former President Ma Ying-jeou's criticism, stating that peace for Taiwan must come through strength and preparation, emphasizing that peace achieved through strength is the true guarantee of peace. Lai reiterated that Taiwan and China are not under any subordination agreement, and the duty of the president is to protect national sovereignty, maintain democracy, and benefit the people.
