Lai Ching-te's 'Policy Presentation Meeting' Under Scrutiny: President has Obligation to Accept Legislative Yuan's National Consultation

Reported about 1 year ago

Before the third reading of the 'Five Acts for Parliamentary Reform' in the Legislative Yuan on June 25, 2024, President Lai Ching-te proposed a constitutional interpretation on the 24th, sparking political controversy again. A physician named Su Yi-feng posted a clip on Facebook showing Lai Ching-te stating at the presidential policy meeting that the President has an obligation, based on the Constitution and the Legislative Yuan Exercise of Powers Act, to go to the Parliament to provide a national report and accept legislators' national consultations. Lai Ching-te also refuted accusations from Hou You-yi that he was unwilling to accept the national consultation, calling it 'fake news.'
