At the 100th anniversary celebration of the Army Officer Candidate School, President Lai Ching-te reviewed the school's history and criticized the surrenderism concept of 'first battle, last battle,' emphasizing that the future of Taiwan lies in the hands of its 23 million people. He highlighted the importance of defending national sovereignty, maintaining Taiwan's democratic system, and ensuring that the Republic of China and the People's Republic of China are not subordinate to each other. Lai urged the military to remain loyal to the country, the people, and democracy, and emphasized the values of sacrifice, unity, and responsibility among the officer cadets.
