President Lai Ching-te mentioned that 'peace must rely on strength.' Hsiao Hsun-Tsen, Executive Director of the Ma Ying-jeou Foundation, criticized Lai for only focusing on part of the equation, stating that in addition to strength, peace is also dependent on trust and adherence to the 'One China Principle' of the Republic of China Constitution, as well as the '1992 Consensus' as the foundation for cooperation with mainland China. Hsiao highlighted concerns over Lai's national strategic objectives in cross-strait relations, warning that they could lead Taiwan into a dangerous situation. Hsiao further criticized Lai for actions deemed as undermining Taiwan's foundation and distorting historical contexts to promote a separatist agenda, urging Lai to prioritize the well-being of Taiwanese citizens rather than pursuing ideological fantasies that hinder actual governance.
