On June 20, Lai Ching-te announced the establishment of three committees at the Presidential Office focusing on climate change, health in Taiwan, and national defense, led by himself, which was criticized by Ko Wen-je as power expansion. In response, Chu Li-lun, in an interview on June 23, pointed out that when former President Ma Ying-jeou proposed a similar initiative in the past, the DPP accused it of being an expansion of power by the Emperor. Chu questioned whether Lai Ching-te's current actions were also about expanding power. Chu further raised concerns about clarifying responsibilities with the Executive Yuan and the role of legislative inquiries in the future constitutional system.
