President Lai Qingde announced the establishment of 3 major committees, which was criticized by Shen Fuxiong for having an 'insufficient vision.' During a press conference on his one-month anniversary in office on the 19th, Lai Qingde announced the formation of committees in the directions of 'climate change,' 'healthy Taiwan,' and 'national defense,' personally leading them and inviting representatives from industry, academia, and government to drive reforms. Shen Fuxiong stated on a TV program that while Lai Qingde's intentions are commendable, these three areas are not Taiwan's most pressing issues, noting that his vision falls short. Shen Fuxiong pointed out that Taiwan's most severe issues currently are the impending bankruptcy of the labor retirement fund, the declining birth rate with no solution in sight, and the impending collapse of the National Health Insurance system.
