On Dragon Boat Festival in the early hours of the morning, Lamigo Monkeys' young outfielder Qiu Dan crashed into a guardrail while drunk driving on the highway in Tainan. Although he was uninjured, his blood alcohol level was over the limit and he was referred for investigation for a public endangerment offense. Both the team and the league issued statements in the afternoon confirming the incident and emphasized that disciplinary actions will be taken according to regulations. Qiu, a 23-year-old with six years of professional baseball experience, had been a Golden Glove winner in 2021. Despite not being injured in the accident, the repercussions for his actions, including violating the implemented drunk driving penalties by the league, could harm his career prospects.
