In an effort to combat the prevalent issue of landlords overcharging tenants for electricity fees, lawmaker Ang Shin-Han has successfully urged the Executive Yuan's Consumer Protection Committee to modify lease contracts. Under the new regulations, landlords can only charge tenants based on the actual electricity bill received from the utility company. This move aims to protect tenants' rights and ensure fair treatment in rental agreements. The revised lease contract template was officially approved last week, and the Ministry of the Interior is set to implement the new rules in mid-July.
