The estate of a young dancer, Órla Ruth Baxendale, who died after consuming a mislabeled cookie containing peanuts, has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Stew Leonard's and Cookies United. Baxendale, who had a severe peanut allergy, passed away from an anaphylactic reaction after eating the cookie sold by Stew Leonard's. The lawsuit alleges gross negligence in failing to properly label the package, as the cookie was produced by Cookies United but labeled with Stew Leonard's brand name without proper peanut allergy warnings. Both companies are named in the lawsuit, seeking monetary and punitive damages.
