Lawyer Scams Convict by Falsely Claiming to Have Connections with Judge

A lawyer in Taipei, Taiwan, surnamed Yao, was sentenced to 3 years in prison for fraud after falsely claiming he could bribe a judge by saying they played mahjong together in order to get leniency for a convict named Wen. The lawyer was also disbarred by the Lawyers' Disciplinary Committee for serious misconduct. This case stemmed from a bribery incident involving Wen, a member of the Immigration Agency's Special Service Corps who was convicted for corruption and sought legal representation from Yao in an appeal case.
