Amid recent media reports alleging the misuse of 8 million public funds by Ambassador Yu Daxia and accusations of mistreatment towards diplomatic staff, the Legislative Yuan's Foreign Affairs Committee passed a proposal for Yu to provide a written explanation regarding the controversy. The committee has requested the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to submit an investigation report within 2 weeks. While both blue and green camp legislators agree on the need for a thorough investigation, they differ on whether the response should come from the Foreign Affairs Ministry or Ambassador Yu himself. The committee ultimately modified the proposal to have Ambassador Yu provide written explanations and for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to investigate and report back within two weeks.
